Fiat Strada tops July vehicle sales in Brazil as BYD and Geely break into top ten
In July, the Fiat Strada compact pickup led Brazil’s vehicle market with 14,912 units sold, staying about 4,500 units ahead of Volkswagen’s Polo (10,340) and Tera (10,165). Chevrolet’s Onix took fourth place with 9,313 units, while Fiat’s Argo ranked fifth.
Chinese manufacturers made notable gains: BYD placed two models in the top ten – the Dolphin Mini (7,265) and the Dolphin (6,492) – and set a monthly sales record of 23,000 licences overall. Geely’s electric EX2 entered the list for the first time at ninth place with 5,898 units, following the start of production for two models in Paraná.
The July results show a continued rise for the Strada, now five years in a row at the market’s peak, and highlight the growing impact of electric and hybrid models from newer Chinese entrants in Brazil’s automotive sector.
