USA women advance to FIBA World Cup semifinals after rout of Hungary

The United States women’s national basketball team advanced to the FIBA Women’s World Cup semifinals following a dominant 108-56 victory over Hungary in Berlin. Napheesa Collier led the Americans with 19 points, while Rhyne Howard contributed 15. The U.S. set multiple tournament records during the quarterfinal, including the highest score ever recorded in a FIBA World Cup quarterfinal and a record 31 assists.

In other quarterfinal action, China secured a narrow 75-72 win against Puerto Rico to advance to the final eight. France also moved into the semifinals after defeating China 90-61. The tournament semifinals are scheduled to feature the United States against the winner of the Spain-Australia matchup, while France will face the winner of the Belgium-Germany game.

The U.S. victory extends their winning streak in the tournament to 34 consecutive games. The team’s performance was characterized by high efficiency, shooting 58.8% from the field and 52.2% from three-point range.
