FiberCop deploys fiber optic network in Gerace, Italy

FiberCop has implemented a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network in the historic town of Gerace, Calabria. The infrastructure reaches key cultural landmarks, including the Norman Cathedral, which is recognized as a national architectural asset.

The project was executed in coordination with the local municipal administration to integrate fiber installation with existing urban redevelopment and repaving efforts. This synchronization aimed to minimize construction impact, reduce costs, and prevent the need for subsequent interventions in the sensitive historic center.

The new network is capable of speeds up to 10 Gbps, intended to support digital services for residents, businesses, and public administration, including smart working, telemedicine, and the management of public lighting, traffic, and environmental monitoring.
