Fibre Excellence faces liquidation and safety concerns at Tarascon site

The Toulouse Commercial Court has ordered the liquidation of SAS Fibre Excellence Provence, leading to urgent safety mandates for its Tarascon plant. Because the site is classified as a Seveso low-threshold facility, the Prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône has formally instructed the appointed liquidators to prioritize the evacuation of dangerous products.

To ensure site security, the Prefect may implement emergency measures through requisitioned providers and consign funds against the liquidators. If necessary, the ADEME will be tasked with carrying out safety works at the company's expense. The site requires human presence and continuous surveillance to mitigate risks.

Separately, the future of the Fibre Excellence Saint-Gaudens plant remains under judicial review. While no firm takeover offers were submitted by the October 23 deadline, the Portuguese paper group Ghost has expressed interest in restarting production by late 2027. To preserve the qualified workforce during this period, professional security contracts will be offered to approximately 300 employees.
