FICAN conference to address Nigeria’s banking and tax reforms

The Finance Correspondents Association of Nigeria (FICAN) will host its 36th Anniversary Annual Conference in Lagos on September 19 and 20. Themed ‘Building on the Gains of Recapitalisation, Tax Reform and Fintech Revolution,’ the event aims to evaluate ongoing reforms within Nigeria’s financial sector.

Key topics for discussion include banking recapitalisation, tax reforms, and the rapid expansion of financial technology, specifically regarding digital payments and financial inclusion. The conference seeks to identify strategies for driving economic growth, increasing investment inflows, and enhancing economic resilience.

Dr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, Deputy Governor of Corporate Services at the Central Bank of Nigeria, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address. Dr. Oliver Alawuba, Group Managing Director and CEO of United Bank for Africa, will serve as the guest speaker. Panelists will include representatives from the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, the Fintech Association of Nigeria, Opay Digital Services Limited, Providus Bank, and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria.
