Ficómics BUAP 2026 International Comic Fair opens in Puebla

The Ficómics BUAP 2026 International Comic Fair has commenced at the Centro de Convenciones del Complejo Cultural Universitario in Puebla, Mexico. Running from August 14 to 16, the event features 39 comic presentations, eight specialized workshops, a cosplay runway, K-pop contests, and dubbing activities.

Lilia Cedillo Ramírez, Rector of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), inaugurated the event, emphasizing the strong link between culture and comics for the enjoyment of young people. The fair showcases the work of 83 university talents and 93 independent authors. It also includes the First National Interuniversity Comics Call 'Viñetas que piensan', where the winning project will earn a lecture slot at the Guadalajara International Book Fair.

International guests include screenwriters Mark Russell from the United States and Pablo Guerra from Colombia. Notable Latin American voice actors are also in attendance, including Gerardo Reyero (voice of Freezer in Dragon Ball Z), Mario Arvizu (voice of Skipper in Madagascar), and Cristina Hernández (voice of Bubbles in The Powerpuff Girls). Other scheduled activities include horror film screenings, awards for Best Graphic Narrative Artist and Breakthrough Artist, and performances by the BUAP Symphony Orchestra.
