Ficomirrors proposes industrial reconversion to avoid 210 layoffs

The potential dismissal of 210 workers at the Ficomirrors plant in Morcone appears to have been averted following negotiations at the Prefecture. Management from the Ficosa Group has expressed openness to an industrial reconversion for the site.

While the facility will cease producing components for Fiat Ducato vehicles by the second half of 2029, the company intends to pivot toward the production of renewable energy and aerospace equipment. Representatives from Ficosa International, including Josep Mari Serra, participated in the discussions.

A follow-up meeting at the Prefecture is scheduled for December 15 to further detail the transition proposal. Labor unions, including Fiom and Cisl, are seeking a meeting with the Campania Region to ensure the new industrial direction provides stable employment.
