Fidas Verona organizes record-breaking 24-hour charity swimming relay

The 18th edition of the ‘24 Ore del Donatoreswimming relay, organized by Fidas Verona in collaboration with Fidas National and Fidas Veneto, concluded with a record-breaking performance. Held from August 29 to August 30 at the Olympic pool of the Terme di Giunone in Caldiero, the event aimed to highlight the continuous need for blood and plasma.

During the 24-hour non-stop event, 379 swimmers from the Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Campania regions participated. Swimmers rotated every 15 minutes, completing a total of 3,840 laps covering 192 kilometers. Individual records for the most laps in a 15-minute interval were set by Corrado Luci and Irene Bresadola.

Various awards were presented, including the Fidas Verona Trophy to Riccardo Passigato and the Fidas National Trophy to Ivan Zamberlan. The ‘Carletto Lanciai’ trophy was awarded to Sabrina Valletta and Enrico Pesenti for participating in 15 consecutive editions. The event saw support from local institutions, the Verona Provincial Fire Department, and the multinational company Fresenius Kabi.
