Fidel Castro mural unveiled at University of the Republic headquarters in Uruguay

A new mural honoring the legacy and thought of Fidel Castro has been unveiled at the headquarters of the Agremiación Federal de Funcionarios de la Universidad de la República (AFFUR) in Montevideo, Uruguay. Created by artist Diego Calascione, the work serves as a tribute to the Cuban revolutionary leader and an exhortation to face contemporary political challenges.

During the presentation, various speakers highlighted the historical impact of Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara on Uruguayan generations. Hugo Masi, founder of the National Confederation of Workers, noted the historical connection between the two nations, while Cuban Embassy Minister Counselor Freddy González expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by the Uruguayan people. The event also touched upon the educational advancements in Cuba following the Revolution, noting the growth from three universities to 55 higher education centers.
