Fidel Castro's legacy discussed in Mexico City and personal history examined
A lecture titled ‘Fidel Castro: Genius of Eloquence’ was held at the Mexico City Congress, organized by the Labor Party Parliamentary Group and the Cuban Embassy in Mexico. Spanish academic and journalist Ignacio Ramonet delivered the keynote, analyzing Castro's communication strategies and the historical impact of the Cuban Revolution. Ramonet addressed the evolution of US-Cuba tensions, describing the current situation as a ‘permanent cognitive war’ facilitated by digital platforms and characterizing the US embargo as an ‘illegal collective punishment.’
Parallel biographical accounts have shed light on the private life of the former Cuban leader, specifically regarding Dalia Soto del Valle, known as ‘Lala.’ Identified as the mother of five of his children, Soto del Valle maintained a largely invisible public presence for over five decades. Despite her central role in Castro's private life and his household, she was excluded from official historical narratives and media coverage during his leadership.
