Fidel Salas calls for total restructuring of San Román transport office in Juliaca

Fidel Salas Zapana, president of the regional transport union ORDET, demanded a complete overhaul of the Subgerencia de Transportes de San Román during a meeting in Juliaca. He met with municipal manager Jaime López Mamani in the absence of mayor Óscar Cáceres and warned that transport workers would consider protest actions if their request was not addressed.

Salas criticized current staff, alleging corruption and insufficient performance, and urged that the newly appointed transport manager José María Beltrán Barriga work with a different team. He also highlighted the sharp rise in fuel prices, projecting gasoline could reach S/30, which he said would strain both operators and passengers. The union asked for a swift response, noting that a delay could lead to mobilizations.

The demand focuses on improving traffic flow in Juliaca’s city centre and preventing fare increases that would affect commuters.
