Fidesz accessed personal data of elderly citizens via Gondosóra program

Zoltán Tanács, the Minister of Science and Technology, has revealed evidence that the Fidesz party gained mass access to the personal data of elderly citizens through the Gondosóra program. Documents indicate a cooperation agreement and a data processing contract were established between the Government Service Center and Fidesz on November 3, 2025, and subsequently extended through December 31, 2026.

Under the agreement, Fidesz acted as a data processor tasked with personally contacting citizens over the age of 78 who were not using the Gondosóra service correctly or at all. Party activists were responsible for visiting these individuals and reporting on their availability and responses.

This discovery follows a prior investigation into the Gondosóra program, which had already prompted reports regarding potential massive overpricing of the hundred-billion-forint initiative. The government has since terminated the data processing contract and ordered a full audit to determine if there were any abuses, unauthorized data transfers, or uses of information that deviated from the original agreement. Tanács noted that these agreements were signed shortly after October 23, 2025, a period when the political landscape was shifting due to the rising influence of the Tisza Party.
