Fidesz accuses Tisza government of favoring foreign firms
The Fidesz party has accused Péter Magyar and the Tisza government of collaborating with Brussels-based political forces to exclude Hungarian companies from major construction and transport projects. Fidesz claims the government is using allegations of irregularities as a pretext to replace domestic firms, which they argue represent the independence of the Hungarian economy, with foreign interests.
The accusations follow the government's decision to suspend the Southern Railway Ring project in Budapest and the exclusion of V-Híd, a company linked to businessman Lőrinc Mészáros, from railway construction works. Fidesz stated that this pattern of excluding domestic companies is also occurring in motorway construction and major railway developments.
Regarding the Southern Railway Ring, Fidesz expressed concern over potential delays and the project's ultimate realization, asserting that the development is necessary regardless of European Union support. The party also criticized Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy, noting his previous role on the supervisory board of the National Infrastructure Development Zrt. (NIF Zrt.), which had approved previous procurement processes.
