Fidesz leader suggests rewriting rules for Viktor Orbán's potential 2030 return

Fidesz parliamentary group leader János Bóka has stated that the party could potentially rewrite rules to allow Viktor Orbán to return to power in 2030. Under current constitutional regulations and term limits recently introduced by the Tisza Party, Orbán is barred from serving as Prime Minister or a Member of Parliament in 2030.

Speaking on the Civil Összefogás Forum podcast, Bóka argued that with sufficient mandate from voters, Fidesz could amend these rules. He criticized the Tisza Party’s implementation of term limits for the Prime Minister and parliamentarians, accusing them of undermining the foundations of political competition and acting outside constitutional frameworks.

Bóka further accused the current administration of conducting a “lie campaign” and a “lie government,” claiming their communication lacks substance and historical context. He asserted that Fidesz aims to build a “lovable, electable” conservative alternative for 2030, while maintaining Viktor Orbán as a decisive figure within the movement.
