FIDIC and IRF partner to support Latin American infrastructure

The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) and the International Road Federation (IRF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building within the global road transport and infrastructure sectors.

Signed at the Latin America and the Caribbean Transport Forum in Miami, the partnership specifically targets the growing pipeline of infrastructure projects in Latin America. The organizations aim to support the region by focusing on project preparation, asset management, and the role of public procurement in driving innovation and quality.

FIDIC President Alfredo Ingletti emphasized that while investment is necessary, the ability to plan, procure, and manage infrastructure effectively is essential for long-term growth and connectivity. IRF Director General Gonzalo Alcaraz noted that the value of infrastructure investments is often determined by how well roads are maintained and managed after they open.
