Fidra Energy and Frontier Energy drive large‑scale battery storage growth in UK and Australia

Edinburgh‑based Fidra Energy has acquired the Enderby battery storage project in Leicestershire, a planned 1,025 MW facility. The acquisition, following planning consent granted in May 2025, expands Fidra’s UK pipeline to over 4 GW. A final investment decision is expected in 2027 with operations slated for 2029.

Perth‑based Frontier Energy announced it has secured up to $110 million of equity for the Waroona solar‑battery hybrid in Western Australia. The project combines a 132 MW solar farm with an 81.5 MW (565 MWh) battery storage system, bringing the total development cost to about $310 million. The funding will enable stage‑one construction and move the project toward senior debt financing and financial close.

Both deals underline growing private‑sector investment in large‑scale battery storage to support renewable energy integration in the UK and Australia.
