Fier police arrest man transporting gold in luxury vehicle

A 30-year-old man, identified as Armando Bixheku, has been arrested in Fier, Albania, during a police operation codenamed ‘Gold’. Authorities intercepted him while he was transporting gold in a luxury Porsche Cayenne.

During the vehicle inspection, police seized four gold bars, nine gold coins, 4,000 euros, and 93,000 lek. The suspect was unable to provide documentation justifying the origin or source of the valuables and cash. A subsequent search of his residence in Roskovec led to the discovery of a suspected falsified driver's license.

Bixheku faces criminal charges including money laundering, smuggling, and the falsification of official documents. The police have confiscated the vehicle and the seized assets, and the case has been referred to the Prosecutor's Office. An asset investigation is expected to follow to determine the source of the wealth.
