FIES student financing maintains access rules for 2026

The Fundo de Financiamento Estudantil (FIES) continues to provide educational credit for undergraduate students in private institutions in 2026. The program is designed for Brazilian citizens without a higher education degree who meet specific income requirements set by the Ministry of Education.

To qualify, applicants must have participated in the Enem (Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio) from 2010 onwards, achieving a minimum average score of 450 and a non-zero score on the essay. The program prioritizes students with lower per capita family income. The maximum gross monthly per capita income allowed is three minimum wages.

Financing can cover up to 100% of tuition fees, with repayment terms that can extend up to three times the duration of the course. While some users seek contact via WhatsApp, the program does not offer service through that platform; official assistance is provided via the ‘Fale Conosco’ channel on the program's website or through the telephone number 0800-616161.
