Fiesta Nacional del Sol 2026 to feature Triassic paleontological theme

The 2026 Fiesta Nacional del Sol in San Juan, Argentina, will center on the theme ‘Parque Triásico’ (Triassic Park), utilizing the province's rich paleontological heritage. The celebration is scheduled for November 19–22, 2026, at the Estadio del Bicentenario and the Velódromo Vicente Chancay in Pocito.

A central musical and theatrical production, written by Nicolás Rodríguez, will take place at the Velódromo. The show is inspired by the life and curiosity of paleontologist Ricardo Martínez and aims to guide the audience through a poetic journey of discovery. The narrative follows a child’s fascination with dinosaurs, traveling through historical landscapes such as Ischigualasto to explore the evolution of life.

The theme draws scientific inspiration from the Ischigualasto and Talampaya regions, which are UNESCO World Heritage sites. These areas provide critical geological and fossil records from the Triassic period, approximately 250 to 200 million years ago, offering insights into early dinosaurs, mammal ancestors, and ancient ecosystems.
