FIFA 2026 broadcasts expand with LiveModeTV in Portugal and streaming growth in Brazil

LiveModeTV announced that it has secured the rights to broadcast the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2026 in Portugal. The competition, held in December, pits the champions of each continent against each other. Although no Portuguese clubs are participating, Paris Saint‑Germain, the UEFA Champions League winner, will feature Portuguese internationals such as Vitinha, João Neves and Nuno Mendes.

In Brazil, three of the five platforms streaming the 2026 World Cup recorded notable changes in app downloads between May and June. Globoplay led with 1.2 million downloads, up 20 % month‑on‑month; the SBT app doubled to 601 000 installs; YouTube grew 18 % to 517 000. Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ saw declines of 21 % and 51 % respectively. Data from Ascenty showed traffic spikes during matches, with Google/YouTube traffic increasing eightfold during the Brazil‑Scotland game.
