Indonesia prepares for FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 amid injury concerns

Indonesia is preparing to host the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, scheduled from September 25 to October 5. The tournament will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta and Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated the host nation, noting the event's importance for expanding football's global reach.

Ahead of the tournament, the Indonesian national team has announced a 23-player squad selected by coach John Herdman. However, the team faces significant challenges due to injuries. Captain Jay Idzes is confirmed to miss the competition due to a quadriceps injury sustained while playing for Sassuolo. Other players reportedly facing fitness issues include Rizky Ridho, Mees Hilgers, and Marselino Ferdinan.

In preparation for the event, Kelme has launched the team's third kit, featuring a light blue design inspired by the ocean and jasmine flower motifs. Meanwhile, PSSI has released ticket information, with prices starting at Rp100,000. Indonesia is placed in Group A alongside Singapore, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
