Indonesia women's volleyball defeats Kazakhstan in AVC 2026 opener

The Indonesian women's national volleyball team opened their AVC Women's Continental 2026 campaign with a 3-0 victory against Kazakhstan at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium in China. The match scores were 25-22, 25-22, and 25-23, marking the first time Indonesia has defeated Kazakhstan in their history.

Despite the win, the squad led by coach Marcos Sugiama is competing without star player Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, who is currently playing in the Korean Volleyball League. To compensate for her absence in the opposite position, the team is relying on Khanza Putri Yansi and Arsela Nuari.

Indonesia is placed in Pool B alongside Thailand and Australia. Following their victory, they are scheduled to face Thailand on Monday, August 24, and Australia on Wednesday, August 26. The team has set a target to reach the top six of the tournament.
