FIFA bans corporate logos in U.S. stadiums for 2026 World Cup

Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the governing body is requiring all venues in the United States to remove any visible branding that is not an official tournament sponsor. Stadiums such as Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara have covered their names and logos with white tarps, while the MetLife Stadium is being temporarily renamed “New York New Jersey Stadium” and the AT&T Stadium is being stripped of its corporate signage. The branding restrictions also affect Lumen Field and other venues that have paid millions for naming‑rights deals, forcing them to adopt neutral designations for the duration of the competition.

Brands have responded with mixed reactions. Levi’s turned the logo cover into a social‑media jest, adapting its digital identity to the “covered” version. The temporary loss of visibility highlights the clash between long‑standing commercial naming rights and FIFA’s aim to keep the tournament’s visual environment free of non‑official sponsors.
