FIFA deploys drones to block non‑official sponsor logos at 2026 World Cup stadiums in the US

FIFA has imposed a strict ban on any commercial logos that are not part of its official sponsor roster at venues hosting matches of the 2026 World Cup in the United States. To enforce the rule, the governing body is using drones to inspect and monitor stadiums, ensuring that non‑partner branding is concealed.

At AT&T Stadium in Dallas, drones have been used to remove visible sponsor markings. Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, which paid roughly €200 million for naming rights, covered its logo but retained the distinctive silhouette, turning the restriction into a visual hint of the brand. In Atlanta’s Mercedes‑Benz Stadium, FIFA allowed the retractable‑roof logo to remain for technical reasons related to air‑conditioning and field maintenance, while stripping other references to the automobile maker.

The measures illustrate FIFA’s wider effort to protect its commercial partnerships by adapting tactics—originally used in military contexts—to the commercial landscape of American sports venues.
