FIFA ethics probe after Norwegian federation challenges Trump peace prize

The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) has submitted a letter to FIFA's ethics commission seeking clarification on the conditions under which FIFA president Gianni Infantino awarded a "FIFA Peace Prize" to U.S. President Donald Trump. NFF president Lise Klaveness said the federation acted alone, noting that other associations could have co‑signed the complaint. The filing supports a earlier complaint by human‑rights group FairSquare, which accused Infantino of breaching his duty of neutrality. Infantino has publicly backed Trump's ambition to win a Nobel Peace Prize. The award was presented during the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington, where the United States, Canada and Mexico are co‑hosts. The ethics committee will now review the matter.
