FIFA lacks broadcast deals for 2026 World Cup in India and China

FIFA has not secured television broadcast agreements with India and China ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which begins on 11 June. In India, a Reliance‑Disney joint venture offered roughly $20 million for the rights, a figure far below FIFA’s expectations. Negotiations with China have also stalled, leaving both of the sport’s biggest markets without a confirmed TV plan.

The unresolved deals raise the risk of a blackout for millions of fans in the two countries, potentially limiting viewership and revenue from two of the most valuable football markets worldwide.
