FIFA launches free Fan ID card for 2026 World Cup fans
FIFA announced a free, personalized physical "Fan ID" card for anyone holding a ticket to the 2026 World Cup, which will be staged across the United States, Mexico and Canada. The card can be collected at any of the 16 host stadiums and uses contact‑less technology that works with smartphones. Holders can unlock augmented‑reality messages, exclusive digital content, FIFA Rewards, and the ability to customize official merchandise with personal photos alongside tournament imagery.
Gianni Infantino said the Fan ID is meant to deepen fan engagement, serving as both a gateway to interactive experiences during matches and an official souvenir after the tournament. FIFA also highlighted that the card will grant access to collectible items, special activations and personalized memorabilia, extending the match‑day experience into a broader digital ecosystem.
The initiative reflects a growing trend of integrating gamification and digital identity into major sports events.
