FIFA to sell pieces of 2026 World Cup final pitch for up to $3,000
FIFA announced that fans can purchase authenticated fragments of the grass used for the 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Four editions are offered, priced from $450 to $3,000, each limited to 2,026 units – a number that reflects the tournament year. The pieces are encased in premium acrylic blocks with a USB‑stored authenticity certificate and, in higher‑priced editions, include a gold‑etched ticket replica, a miniature final ball and a crystal‑cut trophy. Sales are restricted to addresses in the United States and Europe (including the United Kingdom) and will be shipped only after the final on 19 July. FIFA estimates the programme could generate more than $11 million in revenue. The turf was grown on a farm in North Carolina and, like other venues, faced criticism from players and coaches for its dryness. The initiative reflects FIFA’s broader effort to monetize the tournament beyond tickets and merchandise.
