FIFA launches volunteer drive for 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil

FIFA has opened registration for roughly 6,000 volunteers to support the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scheduled for 24 June to 25 July 2027 across eight Brazilian cities – Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, speak Portuguese or English, and will receive uniforms, meals and logistical support while working unpaid in roles ranging from media and transport to technology and competition management.

Organisers anticipate about four million international visitors for the tournament. With only about 5 % of Brazil’s population having any English knowledge and just 1 % fluent, language barriers could affect tourists. Industry experts, including KNN Idiomas CEO Reginaldo Kaeneêne, stress the need to equip frontline service staff with basic English phrases to improve visitor experience and capture economic benefits for hotels, restaurants, transport and retail.
