FIFA orders jersey redesigns for Egypt and Haiti before 2026 World Cup

FIFA has required the Egyptian national team to remove the seven Africa Cup of Nations stars from its World Cup jersey and to replace the gold player numbers with white ones to meet contrast rules for television. The changes will be in place for Egypt’s opening match against Belgium and subsequent games.

The Haitian team also faces a mandatory redesign after FIFA said the original kit, which displayed a small image of the Battle of Vertières and independence heroes, violated the federation’s ban on political or historical symbols. Haiti must replace the contested graphic before its first tournament match.

Both federations said the adjustments were routine following notices from FIFA issued months earlier, ensuring compliance with the governing body’s uniform standards for the 2026 tournament.
