FIFA permits Argentine banner as Atletico Madrid supplies ten players for World Cup final
FIFA has given Argentina permission to display a banner reading “Malvini belong to Argentina” during the World Cup final against Spain, overturning a prior request by the British government for sanctions over the political message.
Atletico Madrid will have an unprecedented ten players on the field – four Spaniards and six Argentines – making the club the most represented in the tournament’s decisive match. The players include Marcos Llorente, Alex Baena, Marc Pubill and Alejandro Grimaldo for Spain, and Juan Musso, Nahuel Molina, Julian Álvarez, Giuliano Simeone, Thiago Almada and Nico González for Argentina.
