FIFA President Gianni Infantino uses private jet to attend multiple World Cup matches daily

FIFA president Gianni Infantino plans to attend two 2026 World Cup matches each day whenever possible, travelling across the tournament’s three host nations. He is using a private jet provided by Qatar Airways as part of the federation’s sponsorship deal, allowing him to move quickly between stadiums in Mexico, the United States and Canada.

Since the opening game in Mexico City, Infantino has flown to Guadalajara, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Miami and back to Los Angeles, aiming to see as many of the 64 matches as possible. The 2026 finals span four time zones and 2,800 miles between venues, far greater than the 2022 Qatar edition.

Environmental advisers have warned that the tournament could become “the most polluting event ever”, estimating around nine million tonnes of CO₂‑equivalent emissions, with about 7.7 million tonnes coming from air travel alone.
