FIFA to allow Council members to review controversial investment documents

FIFA has announced that members of its Governing Council will be permitted to review key documents regarding the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE). This project, proposed by President Gianni Infantino, aimed to sell stakes in major tournaments, such as the World Cup, to private investors.

The 37 members of the Council, including all vice presidents, received notification from Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom. Those interested must request to view the documents in person at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, within a two-week period under specific conditions.

The decision follows significant opposition from UEFA, which had set a deadline for FIFA to answer questions regarding the FFE proposal. While Infantino withdrew the plan following widespread criticism, UEFA has filed a lawsuit in a Florida court to gather evidence. The European body is seeking to explore potential criminal charges of “criminal mismanagement” against the FIFA President.
