FIFA World Cup 2026 Drives Trillion TikTok Views and Boosts US Restaurant Sales
TikTok served as FIFA’s first‑ever Preferred Platform for the 2026 World Cup, delivering massive digital engagement. The platform reported more than 1 trillion views of World Cup‑related content, including 2 trillion global views, 660 million unique livestream views and 22 million videos using FIFA hashtags. FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai said the partnership “brought billions of people together through football, extending the experience far beyond the stadiums.”
A Xero survey of 500 U.S. restaurant owners and managers found the tournament created a surge in foot traffic and revenue. About 65 % increased food inventory before the event, half adjusted staffing, and 47 % launched special menus. During the World Cup, 88 % reported being busier than usual, 79 % welcomed new customers and 69 % saw higher revenue, with host‑city restaurants outperforming those outside the market.
