The Pear Lake Wildfire, which merged with the neighboring Fiftynine Creek Wildfire, now covers roughly 66,900 hectares across the Thompson‑Nicola region of British Columbia. BC Wildfire Service has deployed 188 firefighters, 18 helicopters, 76 pieces of heavy equipment and 141 structural‑protection staff to combat the blaze.

An evacuation order was issued for the community of 70 Mile House and surrounding areas on July 27 at 10 a.m., affecting about 650 residential properties. Additional alerts cover Loon Lake (approximately 436 properties), South Green Lake (688 properties) and other rural locations. Highway 97 remains closed between Loon Lake Road and Chasm Road, and air‑quality warnings have been issued for central and southern interior BC due to smoke.

The regional district continues to advise residents to prepare go‑bags, register for emergency support services, and stay informed through local alerts as the fire’s behaviour remains extreme, with wind‑driven crown fire and spotting reported.
