Figueirense and Maranhão eliminated from Série B promotion race

Figueirense and Maranhão have both been eliminated from the race for promotion to Série B following the final round of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C first phase. In their decisive match at Estádio Orlando Scarpelli, Figueirense secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Maranhão.

Maranhão opened the scoring early through Rosivan, but Figueirense responded with two goals from Emerson Galego to win the match. Despite the victory, a combination of parallel results prevented Figueirense from reaching the top eight positions required to advance to the quadrangular phase.

Maranhão concludes its campaign having met the club's minimum objective of maintaining its position in Série C for the following year. Botafogo da Paraíba currently leads the standings with 33 points.
