Figueres hosts sixth edition of independent book fair

The sixth edition of the Fira Transfronterera de Figueres (Figueres Cross-Border Fair) took place on La Rambla, focusing on independent publishing houses. The event aims to highlight quality works that often disappear from mainstream bookstores after a few months.

Coordinator Jaume Torrent stated that the fair features 17 publishing seals, maintaining the same number as last year to ensure the event remains sustainable for the local audience. Organizers noted that while mainstream bookstores prioritize new releases, this fair allows readers to discover titles published up to ten years ago.

Documentary screenwriter Sílvia Subirós Mercader opened the event with a proclamation. Participating publishers, such as the Barcelona-based Adesiara, emphasized the timelessness of their catalogs, which include Catalan classics and universal literature translations.
