Figulinas Festival celebrates global folklore in Florinas
The 36th Figulinas Festival in Florinas drew approximately 2,000 spectators for an international showcase of traditional dance and music. Organized by the Figulinas association in collaboration with the Municipality of Florinas, the event featured a cultural exchange between Sardinian traditions and groups from Central and South America, Oceania, and Taiwan.
International participants included the Ngāti Rangiwewehi Kapa Haka Maori Cultural Group from New Zealand, the Compañía de Danza Acuarela Boliviana, the Brazilian group Boi Brilho da Ilha, the Fei Yang Folk Dance Group from Taiwan, and the Ballet Folklorico Internacional de Occidente from Mexico. Local Sardinian representation included the Gruppo Folk Figulinas, Gruppo Folk Atzara, Gruppo Folk Pro Loco di Gavoi, Gruppo Folk Beata Vergine del Rimedio di Ozieri, and Tenore San Gavino di Oniferi.
The festival, which is part of the international Cioff circuit, aims to promote identity, diversity, peace, and respect through cultural interexchange.
