FIH announces inaugural Youth Hockey5s World Cup in Egypt

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced the launch of the inaugural FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Ismailia, Egypt, from December 7 to December 12, 2026.

This new U18 tournament was established to provide a meaningful international pathway for promising young players following the postponement of the 2022 Youth Olympic Games and the decision for hockey to serve as a non-medal Engagement Sport at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Guided by FIH President Tayyab Ikram, the event utilizes the fast-paced Hockey5s format to increase the sport's accessibility and global reach.

Beyond competition, the tournament is designed with an athlete-first philosophy, incorporating elements of education, leadership, and holistic development. The initiative aims to empower young athletes to become future leaders and officials while strengthening the sport in emerging nations and regions.
