FiiO launches FT15 flagship planar magnetic headphones

FiiO has launched the FT15, a new flagship open-back planar magnetic headphone priced at approximately $500. Serving as the successor to the FT5 model, the FT15 features a larger 101mm planar driver, representing a 35% increase in active diaphragm area compared to its predecessor.

A key technical advancement is the ultra-thin diaphragm, which has been reduced from 6 microns to 800 nanometers. To enhance rigidity and suppress high-frequency breakup, FiiO applied a full-surface diamond coating to the diaphragm, allowing for frequency extensions up to 40kHz. The driver design also utilizes a patented dual-sided magnet array and a 28nm electroplated voice coil.

The headphones are constructed with a carbon-fiber headband and black walnut earcups, resulting in a total weight of 425 grams. For connectivity, the FT15 includes a 4.4mm balanced connection and comes with 6.35mm and XLR-4 adapters. The included cable is made of cryogenically treated monocrystalline copper.
