Fiji Airways to suspend nonstop Canberra-Nadi service

Fiji Airways has announced the temporary suspension of its nonstop service between Canberra and Nadi, with the final scheduled flight set for January 31, 2027. The airline stated the decision is a targeted network adjustment intended to redeploy aircraft to areas with stronger demand and performance.

Canberra Airport officials expressed disappointment regarding the suspension, noting that the route had provided an important direct connection to Fiji and onward links to North America. Challenges cited for the service's sustainability include global uncertainty, rising fuel prices, and decreased demand for travel to the United States. Following the suspension, travelers between the Australian Capital Territory and Fiji will be required to connect through Sydney.
