Fiji sugar sector adopts digital tools to modernize services

Fiji’s sugar industry is implementing digital tools to modernize operations and improve services for growers. The Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF), supported by the Asian Development Bank, has launched a Digital Management System, a Smart Chatbot, and a Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Framework in Lautoka.

Government officials stated that these digital initiatives aim to increase transparency, expand financial access, and help farmers manage rising costs and climate-related risks. By replacing paper-based processes with digital systems, the sector seeks to improve efficiency and ensure better access to opportunities for women and vulnerable farming communities.
