FIL Zócalo 2026 to host 266 activities and Colombian President Gustavo Petro

The 26th edition of the Feria Internacional del Libro del Zócalo (FIL Zócalo) is scheduled to take place in Mexico City from October 9 to 18. The event will feature 266 activities, including 71 talks, conferences, and debates, involving 353 publishing houses.

Ana Francis López Bayghen, the Mexico City Secretary of Culture, described the fair as a “fiesta del pensamiento crítico” (celebration of critical thinking). This year’s programming focuses on themes of fundamentalism and neo-fascism. A notable international guest is Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who is scheduled to participate in a talk titled “Colombia ante el abismo” (Colombia facing the abyss).

In addition to intellectual discussions, the fair aims to promote reading through the free distribution of 12,000 books. The event also includes musical performances, poetry recitals, workshops, and activities for children.
