Filanda building in Larnaca inspected by police and EAC
The Cyprus Police and the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) conducted an inspection at the Filanda building in Larnaca on Monday. The investigation followed allegations from the complex's management committee regarding illegal occupation, subletting, theft of water and electricity, and dangerous electrical connections.
Police Spokesperson Vyronas Vyronos stated that while officials discovered interventions involving the removal of fuses, it was not clearly established during the inspection whether electricity theft had occurred. As a result, electricity meters were sealed and locked. The police will continue to investigate potential theft.
Regarding other allegations, including threats and the operation of a kindergarten on the premises, Vyronos noted that the police have not received any official complaints or legal correspondence to date. The Filanda complex is a large residential site comprising five blocks and 150 apartments.
