Moses Itauma vs. Filip Hrgović set for vacant IBF heavyweight title

Moses Itauma, a 21‑year‑old British‑Nigerian heavyweight with a 14‑0 record and 12 knockouts, will face Croatia’s Filip Hrgović (34, 20‑1) on 29 August at London’s O2 Arena. The bout is for the vacant IBF world heavyweight championship after Oleksandr Usyk gave up his remaining belts.

The fight was approved after a step‑aside agreement with mandatory challenger Frank Sanchez, who will receive a guaranteed title shot against the winner within six months. Promoter Frank Warren highlighted the deal as beneficial for all parties. The contest will be broadcast on DAZN pay‑per‑view.

A victory would make Itauma the second‑youngest heavyweight champion in history and give Hrgović the chance to become Croatia’s first heavyweight world champion.
