Filip Hrgović wins IBF heavyweight title via TKO

Filip Hrgović has claimed the IBF heavyweight world title following a ninth-round technical knockout victory over Moses Itauma at London’s O2 Arena. The 34-year-old Croatian fighter secured the win by maintaining patience and weathering an early aggressive start from the 21-year-old British prospect.

Reflecting on the victory, Hrgović attributed his success to a rigorous and isolated training camp in Big Bear under trainer Abel Sanchez. He contrasted his disciplined preparation with Itauma’s lifestyle, noting that while the younger fighter was surrounded by a large support staff and luxury in Marbella, Hrgović focused on the fundamental elements of boxing through intense isolation.

Despite the loss, Hrgović praised Itauma’s talent, describing him as a uniquely fast and large heavyweight with high ring intelligence. Hrgović suggested that if Itauma can mentally recover from this defeat, he remains a formidable force in the division.
