Filip Hrgovic seeks rematch with Moses Itauma

Heavyweight champion Filip Hrgovic has expressed interest in a rematch with Moses Itauma, stating he believes he can improve his performance following their August encounter. Although Itauma secured an early knockdown, Hrgovic ultimately secured a ninth-round stoppage after the 21-year-old struggled with exhaustion.

Regarding power, Hrgovic noted that while Itauma possesses exceptional speed and ring IQ, he does not consider him the hardest hitter he has faced. Hrgovic identified Daniel Dubois, Zhilei Zhang, and David Adeleye as opponents who delivered more impactful punches. Hrgovic specifically described Adeleye’s power as the strongest he has experienced in his career.

Before a potential rematch, Hrgovic must defend his IBF title against mandatory challenger Frank Sanchez. Analysts suggest that Itauma’s promotional team, Queensberry, faces a strategic decision regarding his development, as he needs opponents who can test his ability to pace himself beyond the opening rounds.
