Filip Hrgovic targets Moses Itauma’s technical habits ahead of August bout
Heavyweight boxer Filip Hrgovic has expressed skepticism regarding the hype surrounding Moses Itauma ahead of their scheduled bout on August 29 at London’s O2 Arena. Hrgovic argues that Itauma’s rapid rise and financial success are largely due to the British media and promotional infrastructure, suggesting that a fighter of similar talent from a smaller boxing nation like Bulgaria would lack such visibility and earnings.
Hrgovic also noted that Itauma has not yet faced significant adversity, having primarily overwhelmed opponents with speed and power without being forced to adapt technically. To exploit this, Hrgovic plans to target Itauma’s ingrained habits and technical openings. By studying footage, Hrgovic intends to use counterpunching and specific jab sequences to punish the young southpaw’s offensive patterns that have previously gone unchecked by lesser opposition.
