The club announced his departure on 12 June, and the player later posted a heartfelt message in Greek on social media. In the note he thanked the team, staff and supporters, described his time as a source of pride, and called himself "the captain and the soldier" for the club. Jurišić said Athens had become a second home, expressed hope that Panathinaikos would win the championship, and pledged he would never forget the moments he shared with the fans.
