Filip Miskovic wins Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition

Croatian guitarist Filip Miskovic has won the 59th Francisco Tárrega International Classical Guitar Competition held in Benicàssim, Spain. The event, held at the Francisco Tárrega Municipal Theater, concluded in the early hours of the morning following a high-stakes final.

Luka Lovrekovik, also from Croatia, secured second place. Portuguese guitarist Francisco Luis received both the audience award and the prize for the best interpretation of a work by Francisco Tárrega. Additionally, Valencian guitarist Ausiàs Parejo was awarded the prize for the best Spanish performer born in the Valencian Community for the sixth consecutive time.

The competition, regarded as one of the most demanding in the world, drew a significant audience. In addition to approximately 400 attendees at the theater, the event reached over 20,000 viewers via YouTube streaming. The final program featured works by Joaquín Rodrigo, commemorating the 125th anniversary of his birth, alongside compositions by Francisco Tárrega.
